Leading Chinese action camera manufacturer SJCAM has released their new action cameras right in time to be compared with the recently released GoPro Hero5. The cameras offer some amazing feature at a low price as compared to the GoPro action cameras.
The SJCAM SJ6 Legend Action Camera and SJCAM SJ7 Star Action Camera both can record in 4k but the only difference is that the SJ6 Legend records in interpolated 4k while the SJ7 Star in native 4k. The SJ6 Legend uses a 16 MP Panasonic MN34120PA Sensor and Novatek 96660 chipset, while the SJ7 Star uses the 12 MP Sony IMX117 Sensor and Ambarella A12 chipset.
Another difference in the two is that while both have a 2” LCD at the back, the SJ6 Legend also has a 1” small data display to check settings on the front of the camera. Apart from these, the features of the two cameras are largely the same.
The SJCAM SJ6 Legend can take pictures in the resolutions – 16M/ 14M/ 12M/ 10M/ 8M/ 5M/ 3M/ 2M, and record videos in the resolutions:
- 4K (2880 x 2160) – 24 fps (interpolated)
- 2K (2560 x 1440) – 30 fps
- 1080p (1920 x 1080) – 60 / 30 fps
- 720p (1280 x 720) – 120 / 60 / 30 fps
- 480p (640 x 480) – 240 fps
On the other hand, the SJCAM SJ7 Star takes pictures in the resolutions – 16M/ 14M/ 12M/ 8.3 M/ 5M/ 3M and videos in:
- 4K (2880 x 2160) – 30 fps (native)
- 2K (2560 x 1440) – 60 fps
- 1080p (1920 x 1080) – 120 / 60 / 30 fps
- 720p (1280 x 720) – 200 /120 / 60 / 30 fps
The SJCAM SJ6 Legend can be bought for $159 and will be available by October 20-31 according to their website. The SJCAM SJ7 Star will be sold for $199 and will be available around mid November.
