Kuri is Your Children's Next Nanny Robot

CES 2017 has showcased some amazing new products, and one such is the Kuri Robot that has been designed to socialize as well as keep an eye on your family as it roams around your home.

At 20 inches tall, this 14-pound robot is the size of a small child with a round white head and a bell-shaped white, gray and black torso that resembles the Pixar character Wall-E. Not just a ‘robot’ this is an adorable device capable of making cute noises and expressions, as well as play and take care of your family, allowing you to think of it more like a pet!

Kuri makes a variety of expressions like happiness or exasperation by tilting his head and closing his eyes. Its speaker can put out any sounds, though its own noises include a series of cute, disarming chirps.

This home robot comes with a 1080p camera, a speaker as well as 4-microphone arrays. It also has some complex sensors in its belly that allows it to map its surroundings and avoid obstacles.

Kuri can be woken up by simply petting its head, and can be controlled using the compatible smartphone app, voice commands or IFTTT (If This, Then That), to make it go around your house and look for anything suspicious. It also has facial recognition and pet recognition features, which allows it to update you on others’ whereabouts in the house by send you an alert. The IFTTT lets you use data from Kuri to control your smart home as well.

It can also be used as a telepresence robot, letting user talk to other family members when they’re not home. So, if you want to check up on your child, you can make Kuri go to their room and use the robot's speaker to talk. Though, unfortunately the robot doesn’t have a screen on it to show the person who is talking.

Kuri has also been designed to be a companion for your kids and can play games with them like "follow the leader." Its built-in Bluetooth speaker lets you play songs or stream any other audio, as well as wake you up with its alarm.

The very adorable Kuri Robot offers a number of safety and interactive feature, and can be pre-ordered for $699 by paying a deposit of $100 at heykuri.com. It will ship towards the end of December 2017.
