UPDATE 31/08/2017: DJI has upgraded its Phantom 4 Pro drone at the IFA convention held in Berlin. The new DJI Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian isn't an upgrade in features but in the color and material of the drone. The Obsidian version comes in a matte-gray color and has a magnesium shell that features anti-fingerprint coating.

DJI has added yet another drone to their line of Phantom 4 drones, called the Phantom 4 Pro. It is an upgraded version of the previous and has some cool new features.

When it comes to aerial imaging capabilities, the drone uses a 1-inch 20MP sensor with 12 stops of dynamic range. It can record slow-motion video in 4K at 60fps and has dual coding of H.264 and H.265 compression that helps in improving the video’s quality.

A big advantage of buying this drone is that it is equipped with DJI's Flight Autonomy technology that features 5 directions of obstacle sensing. It can detect them at up to 98 feet and the feature also plans routes that the drone can follow. When the drone has to land, it can even sense if the ground it uneven or if there’s water.

The Phantom 4 Pro features a slightly longer flight time than the previous Phantom 4 drones. It has a flight time of around 30 minutes, as compared to DJI Phantom 4's 28. It can fly at speeds of 31mph when in P mode, which is for obstacle avoidance, or at 45mph in sport mode.

It has some intelligent flight modes that make flying the new DJI drone easier. Users can draw a route on the controller to make the drone follow, while the ActiveTrek mode can recognize objects and follow them by maintaining focus. Another feature, TapFly allows a Free mode where the drone flies in any direction you want by tapping on the controller’s screen.

The Phantom 4 Pro remote controller features a high-quality display that shows what the drone’s camera is recording. With built-in GPS, compass, micro SD card slot as well as HDMI port, the drone can also automatically switch between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz wavebands when there is radio interference.
