Have You Seen GoPro’s 360-Degree Videos On Facebook Yet?

Recently in September Facebook started providing 360-degree video support that caters to a virtual reality headsets. GoPro recently released their VR recording rig called Odyssey and was one of the first companies to take advantage of this opportunity.

GoPro has already uploaded some really cool 360-degree videos on Facebook and recently announced the third, which features Anthony Walsh and Matahi Drollet. The video’s release corresponds with Facebook announcing that they now support 360 videos on mobile devices as well, since they only had that feature for desktops earlier.

The first 360 video uploaded by GoPro was of sand dune jumping with “freeride legend Ronnie Renner FMX,” and the second was of skiing in Chile.

In a post broadcasting this mobile compatibility, Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said, “We think people will share a lot more 360 content in the future, especially as technology makes it easier to record it themselves.”

Facebook has also disclosed that they have had over 8 billion video views each day from around 500 million users. There is definitely an interest from brands to utilize time, money, and many other resources to make use of this new marketing opportunity by taking advantage of 360/VR videos.

“Viewers will not need a headset to access the new GoPro videos on Facebook. People can discover these immersive 360 videos right in News Feed on web, iOS, and Android, where viewers can choose what angle they want to see it from.”

“On the web, the content can be explored by dragging the mouse around the video. On Android and iOS devices, viewers can drag their finger across the screen or turn the device on its side to navigate.”
