Nikon Keymission 360 Is A 4K, 360-Degree Action Camera

Nikon recently revealed their foray into the action camera market at CES 2016 in Las Vegas. They have released a new action cam that is compact, durable and rugged for use in different weather conditions.

The new KeyMission 360 is the newest entrant in the market, which will help users record all their action and adventure activities in ultra-sharp, 360-degree video.

With a box-shaped design, the KeyMission 360 is equipped with 2 image sensors and lenses, which are positioned on both the sides to record videos in 4K UHD. A single, HD 360-degree image is created by combining the footage from both the lenses.

This action camera is waterproof till 30 m (100 ft.) without the need for any extra housing, it can also withstand dust, jolts and cold temperatures.

Nikon has also used their image stabilization technology in this camera, and so it features Electronic Vibration Reduction, that helps in preventing camera shake and record clearer video.

What has caught the attention of action cam fans is that the KeyMission 360 is able to create 360-degree video using only 2 lenses! This is surprising because other such devices like GoPro's own 360-degree video rig called Odyssey, uses 6 GoPro Hero4s placed in different angles, while other company rigs use to as many as 8.

No information has been given about how much this new Nikon action camera will cost, Nikon claims that it will be released in spring 2016, along with "a variety of dedicated accessories."
