Design and Body

The Hubsan X4 H107C is a small sized quadcopter that is 3 inches in width and 1 inch in height. It weight slightly heavier than the other same sized Hubsan quadcopter models, at 40 gms without battery and 50 gms with it. This extra weight is due to the add-on camera and all the peripheral additions that come with it.

The quadcopter’s frame is made from plastic and all the electronics are fitted inside the main body. It features 2 blue LED lights at the top and break away arms on the cross frame. The propellers are made from standard plastic and can be easily removed.

The motor is a coreless motor and the drone’s battery fits seamlessly at the rear via a standard connector. The behind of the quadcopter also features a switch to start video recording. It even has rubber feet at the bottom for extra shock absorption.

Charging and Battery

The Hubsan X4 H107C uses a 3.7V 380mAh lithium polymer (LiPo) battery that can be charged using the included USB charger. It has a charging time of about 30-40 minutes and will give you around 8 minutes of flight time.

Remote Control

The remote control that comes with the Hubsan X4 H107C is quite great for the price. It is light to hold, fits easily in your hand and has all the standard settings required to fly your quadcopte, including remote battery level, a basic LCD monochromatic display and level adjustments.

Flying the quadcopter

The Hubsan X4 H107C is a great drone for beginners and is easy to learn on and fly. To begin, you have to pair the remote and the drone by attaching the battery, keeping the quadcopter in its initiation location and turning on the remote control. Once the LEDs stop blinking, you can fly your quadcopter with ease!

This drone is quite powerful and has a fair amount of thrust for its size. It has quick responses to all the commands and can quickly pirouette and can move swiftly from left to right and front to back.

You can use the included propeller guards on the drone if you are flying it inside or are still beginning to learn, so that you don’t damage the drone. To attach the propeller guard you will have to first remove each one and slide the guards on before attaching the propeller back to the drone.

While that may add a little bit of extra weight to the drone over all, it is worth it as it will extend the life of the drone and keep it safer for longer. Alternately, you can also buy some extra propeller and replace every one that breaks or gets damaged. It is much easier to fly this small quadcopter with straight, level and new propellers!

Camera and Recording

The camera is located at the center of the Hubsan X4 H107C quadcopter and peeks out from the front. Its camera has 720×480 resolution with 25 fps and a narrow camera view of about 50-60 degrees. While the video recording might not be amazing, this drone will provide some decent shots that are pretty stable.

There is another version of the Hubsan X4 H107C that has a HD 720p (1280×720 resolution) video camera and the recording on that is slightly better. The model number is the same but it will say ‘HD’ in the name.

If you want to take videos on your quadcopter, first you have to put in a microSD card in its slot that is located on the back side under the battery. Then you start the drone and hit the record button at the bottom left on the behind of the quadcopter’s body. A red LED light will start blinking when the recording has started.

Since the recording is stored on the micro SD card, you can get all the data after you remove it from your drone. The files are saved in the Video/DVREC/ folder and also have audio, but it is mostly quadcopter sounds.

Conclusion

Overall, the Hubsan X4 H107C is a great quadcopter for the size and price, and has some awesome features. It is one of the best options if you are a beginner or want to get into drone flying. It also has a huge community of fliers and many forums and articles related to the drone and its flying, so you will be able to easily find relevant information when you need it.

The videos are pretty decent and the drone offers a competitive flight time seen in other similar sized quadcopters. If you are looking for a drone with great video recording capabilities then check out the DJI Phantom 3 or 3D Robotics Solo Drone.
