DJI Is Building A Drone Racing Arena!

Drone racing has really taken off as a sport that everyone wants to participate in, but the laws limiting drone flying in cities, and the low number of opportunities for drone racers has hindered its progress.

To combat this problem, Chinese drone maker DJI is opening a drone racing arena for lying enthusiasts!

The racing area will be located in South Korea in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province that is 50 km south of Seoul and will have a 1395 square meter (4,500 square foot) area. It will have all the safety features required in a drone facility, and has safety nets all over to save flier from others’ or even their own drones, incase they come crashing down.

An LED-light circuit will help those who want to improve their flying skills, and an LCD TV system to follow the action from a first-person perspective is also located in the arena. The facility will have a maintenance room in case your drone gets a bump or damaged, and the room is also fitted with charging docks and a workstation for minor repairs.

“DJI is committed to making aerial technology more accessible and easier to learn for anyone who wants to use it, and the DJI Arena is a great example,” said Moon Tae-Hyun, DJI Korea’s Country Manager. “We hope to provide a safe and fun environment for people to experience the technology first hand, whether they are skilled enthusiasts or someone who is just curious to learn. Best of all, the indoor venue will provide a space for people to fly all year round despite weather conditions outside.”

The DJI Arena will also be available for bookings, corporate events, and will even offer workshops and training events. Arenas like these can provide a huge push for the drone racing scene, and can help make it more mainstream as well!
