Body and Design

The body of the camera is similar to most other leading action cameras like GoPro Hero 4 and is rectangular in shape. It weighs 3.5oz including battery and has the dimensions - 2.5” wide (65mm), 1.65” (42mm) tall, 1.18” (30mm) deep. It features a black body with a soft-touch coating that gives it an amazing feel to hold and makes it look classy.

Camera Features

The Sioeye Iris4G 4K Action Camera gives the user amazing recording capabilities along with a live streaming feature. It features up to 150 degree POV with F2.8 aperture as well as a 6-glass lens with protective coating.

Various modes have been included to help diversify the captures. They are time lapse, still photo, photo bursts, video capture, slow-motion and live streaming, and the camera also has a GPS, gyroscope and altimeter sensors. Along with an onboard storage of 1 GB, it even has an integrated 2” LCD touch display screen that supports instant playback.

The stereo audio is 48kHz with ACC and it includes a 3.5mm stereo mic port. It even supports Bluetooth 4.0, third party Android applications, and works with the Sioeye Camera App that provides over the air updates.

The 4K action camera uses a replaceable 1160mAh 3.7V 4.29Wh lithium-ion rechargeable battery that can last for up to 90 minutes of live streaming. It also supports up to 64GB Class 10 MicroSD cards, but these have to be bought separately. 

Video Recording and Pictures

As the name suggests, the Sioeye Iris4G 4K action camera can record in 4K at 30fps, 2k at 30fps, 1080p at 120, 60 and 30fps, as well as 720p at 120, 60 and 30fps. It records in video formats of h.264 and *h.265, and .mp4 file format. It also captures pictures with great resolution and wide-angle, and can take pictures in 18MP (4:3 aspect ratio), 13MP (13:9 aspect ratio), as well as 8MP (4:3 aspect ratio).

Waterproof Case

The action camera uses a Sioeye waterproof case that is green in color, and comes with a LTE booster antenna that helps in improving 4G LTE service reception. The case makes the camera waterproof till 197’. Its ability to auto-recognize the sealed waterproof case introduces a unique button-mode user interface on the camera. 

Live Streaming Features

An amazing feature of the Sioeye Iris4G 4K Action Camera is that it can broadcast live video, audio, speed and altimeter statistics. Its Sioeye LiveCapture, the one touch live stream button makes it easy to operate and can broadcast with many cameras through a single account. You can also preview the live stream video on the camera’s integrated LCD screen and the videos even have a real-time speed and altitude overlay.

The camera has an unlocked 4G LTE with removable MicroSIM slot that supports LTE-FDD/WCDMA mobile networks. It supports 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and the live streaming data usage is about .5 GB per hour.

The live broadcasting is done at 480p at 30fps resolution that is software controlled and mobile-optimized to decrease shakiness and video loss. The real resolution above 300kbps stream is 480p x 854p, while below it is 480p x 640p. Users also have the option to simultaneous record on a MicroSD card in 1080p at 30fps.

Difference Between The Sioeye Iris4G Blink and The Sioeye Iris4G 4K Action Cameras

The Sioeye Iris4G action camera is available in 2 models – the Sioeye Iris4G Blink and the Sioeye Iris4G 4K, where the 4K version comes with higher capabilities in some features. While largely the 2 models offer the same features there are a few differences that make them stand apart.

Color – The Blink features a white body, while the 4K model has a black body with a soft-touch coating.

POV – The Blink model has a POV of up to 130 degree with F2.8 aperture, while the 4K version features up to 150 degree POV with F2.8 aperture as well as a 6-glass lens with protective coating.

Modes – The Sioeye Iris4G 4K has an additional slow-motion mode that the Blink version doesn’t.

Sensor – The 4K version also has an additional gyroscope sensor.

Onboard storage – Where the Sioeye Iris4G Blink does fare better is their onboard storage, as it has 4 GB storage while the 4K version only has 1 GB.
