SJCAM Comparison – SJ4000+ Vs. SJ5000+

The SJCAM SJ4000+ and SJ5000+ are both the pioneers of their series respectively and both have some great features, with the biggest being their video recording abilities. When compared, they both fare really well and the choice of buying will depend on the user’s requirements.
The SJ4000+ uses a Novatek 96660 chipset whereas the Sj5000+ is equipped with the Ambarella A7LS75 DSP. While both of them have a 170-degree wide angle, when it comes to the censors the SJ4000+ features a 12 MP OV4689 COMS, and the SJ5000+ has a Panasonic 16 Megapixel 1/2.33" CMOS Sensor.
As far as the video recording is concerned, the SJ4000+ has the upper hand because it supports 2K recording and can record in 2K (2560 x 1440) 30FPS, 1080P (1920 x 1080) 60FPS, 1080P (1920 x 1080) 30FPS and 720P (1280 x 720) 120FPS. On the other hand the SJ5000+ can only record videos in Full HD (1920 x 1080) 60/30 FPS, 720P (1280 x 720) 120/60/30 FPS, 480P (848 x 480) 240/120/60/30 FPS.
With a SJ4000+ users can store pictures in image resolutions of 5M (2592 x 1944), 8M (3264 x 2448) and 12M (4032 x 3024), whereas with a SJ5000+ you will get 16M (4608x3456), 14M (4254x3264), 12M (4000x3000), 8M (3264x2448), 5M (2560x1920), 3M (2048x1536), 2M Wide (1920x1080), 1.2M (1280x960) and VGA (640x480).
Dissimilarities aside, the two SJCAM models are very popular with action camera enthusiasts and seem to do very well when it comes to Chinese action cameras.
