SJCAM SJ5000 Series - Review & Overview
The SJCAM SJ5000 Series of action cameras have become very well known in the market. In an industry where GoPro has been the leader for sports and action adventure recording, SJCAMS has quickly risen and become one of the top sellers as well.
The SJCAM SJ5000 series have three cameras to choose from - SJ5000 + Wi-Fi, SJ5000 Wi-Fi, SJ5000, each with varying degree of features. The SJ5000 Wi-Fi and SJ5000 models are the same except for the Wi-Fi function, but both SJ5000 Wi-Fi and SJ5000 + Wi-Fi are equipped with the function.
When it comes to the SOC of the camera, SJ5000 Wi-Fi and SJ5000 both use Novatek 96655, while the SJ5000 + Wi-Fi uses Ambarella A7LS75 DSP. The former two cameras also have the same Panasonic MN34110PA sensors and the latter has an upgraded Panasonic MN34120PA sensor.
All three cameras share the same lens specification with f= 2.99mm F= 2.8 and wide angle of 170°. But while max video resolution for SJ5000 Wi-Fi and SJ5000 is 1920 x 1080P 30 fps, it is 1920 x 1080P 60/30 fps for SJ5000 + Wi-Fi.
Surprisingly the SJ5000 + Wi-Fi is equipped with a smaller sized LCD screen at 1.5” 960 x 240, as compared to 2” 960 x 240 on the other two.
When it comes to video recording both SJ5000 Wi-Fi and SJ5000 can record in 1080p at 30 fps (FHD), 720P at 30/60 fps and 480p at 60 fps. On the other hand, the SJ5000 + Wi-Fi can record videos in 1080p at 30/60 fps (FHD), 720P at 30/60/120 fps and 480p at 240/120/60/30.
With these amazing features, compact designs and ease of use, the SJ5000 Series has great cameras to choose from.
