Why Chinese Amazon Sellers Should Use Payoneer

In 2015 alone, E-commerce titan Amazon shipped well over 1 billion items to customers. If that doesn’t raise your eyebrows, think of the millions of merchants who reaped huge revenues from this sales. Sellers from outside account for well over 45% of all items sold on Amazon, a rate that has been on a gradual rise year after year.

Surge in Amazon Sellers

Years ago, Amazon set up a program well known to many Amazon sellers as FBA, which stands for Fulfillment by Amazon. Joining the program lets you sell to its estimated 50 million prime members who, to put it simply, are a pack of heavy shoppers. Who wouldn’t want that?

The allure to reach this section of customers explains the rapid rise of merchants on Amazon. 2014 witnessed a 65% growth in sellers, a pattern that repeated itself in 2015 which saw a 50% growth in new sellers.

Scot Wingo, executive chairman of ChannelAdvisor, remarks that in the six months running into September 2016, Amazon recorded a dramatic rise in new merchants, many of them Chinese merchants. Read more about that here. According to some projections, five years from now, e-commerce sales will likely hit $3.5 trillion due to the rapid rise of internet users the world over.

In recent years, cross-border trade in Amazon has risen to include sellers in over 100 countries shipping orders to 185 countries. Barriers have been there before but thanks to Amazon’s enhanced cooperation with Payoneer (See Payoneer Selected by Amazon to Expand Cross Border Payment Options in Select Countries.), international sellers can now get paid locally even as they take their business to the world.

In widening its cross-border payment options, Amazon picked Payoneer which has now enabled sellers from 24 countries sell their goods and services to marketplaces in the UK, US, Italy, Germany, France and Spain.
